Training Development Specialist
As a Training Development Specialist you will join a small, independent, and cohesive team that designs, develops and occasionally delivers technical training for internal technical support staff and external customers at mine sites around the world which utilize an expanding portfolio of Modular products. Developing high quality training products at an exemplary standard is our goal; therefore your role supports global training efforts by developing world class certification programs, new product training and remediation.
Applicants must have a two to five year track record of successful technical training design/development experience using various delivery media (web conference, online, video, etc.) and stand-up training delivery experience. Formal training/certification in instructional systems design (ISD) is required. You must be proficient in training needs analysis, developing objectives and metrics. A Bachelor’s degree is required. You must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications or equivalent. Experience in the mining industry is preferred. Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills preferred. Experience working with LMS (Moodle preferred). Experience with web 2.0 technologies as learning tools preferred. Potential worldwide travel (up to 20%) may be required. The Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual to write and edit label copy and text for the 75,000 sq. ft. of permanent exhibitions. This position will work closely with curators, researchers, and exhibits staff to clarify information and message while creating texts that are interesting and engaging to visitors of all ages. This full-time, on-site position will have a duration of 18 to 24 months from date of hire. The individual filling the position may choose to work as a contracted consultant or as an employee of MIM. The Web Copy Writer must thrive working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment with interaction designers, proto-typers, researchers and product managers to "get a concept right early" and be able to collaborate with marketing on branding to provide copy continuity across shop, buy and use experience.
Once the copy is in production, the Web Copy Writer is involved in a continuous cycle of learning from customers, providing the learning back into strategy and content for upcoming releases and new growth ideas.
Typical Deliverables:
- Primarily generates new content for assigned web site areas to provide product, service and relevant tips/information that helps people successfully select clients Customer Care options that are right for them
- Proofreads and provides copy editing for assigned sections of the site for compliance with legal, style, and other corporate standards
- Collects content for product and service feature information, making sure that information is relevant to the specific feature and not redundant
- Working cross-functionally with web team, managers, and senior leadership to define application enhancements and scope release cycles
- Working with Web Engineering and Development teams and QA to ensure implementation and testing of user interface copy

Description
The role entails editing English academic research papers on various subjects in physical sciences written by non-native speakers of English.
The editor would need to have impeccable spelling and grammar and the ability to write clear, concise, and extremely polite notes to the author for the clarification of any ambiguities in the text. Experience in editing/writing is a plus.
If you have access to the Chicago Manual of Style and/or other academic style manuals or are aware of the differences between British and American English (in terms of spelling and punctuation), please be sure to mention it in your application.
Preference is given to native speakers of English. An editing test will be administered to determine your quality and to negotiate a rate. The same test is given to all candidates; it is not part of a live document. All who qualify will be selected.

Salary
We currently have two levels of service: standard copyediting and a premium service (different from substantive editing). Our rates tend to be low for the first service and are more competitive for the second. We plan to add a proofreading service and a substantive editing service as well at some point. Rates are negotiated with each individual according to number of years of editing experience (particularly with ESL documents), quality of the edit, and quality in comparison to our other editors. Please state your minimum acceptable rate per word when you bid.
Qualifications
We require candidates that have qualifications in subjects such as engineering, computer science, physics, geology, and chemistry. We prefer candidates with some level of experience in editing documents written by non-native speakers of English, but this is not a strict requirement.
